A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes

Dreams are an incredible natural phenomenon. Since the dawn of humanity, dreams have been a puzzle that we try to interpret. What exactly is a dream? We are told that it is just a series of thoughts and images triggered by neurological “spasms” while we sleep. We are also told that it is our brain’s way of working out the events of the previous day. Some of us believe that they may hold answers to our personal past or future. And others may believe that we are visited or can visit others in dreams. Maybe we will never truly know what power dreams may hold. Meanwhile, we will continue to contemplate the meaning of them.

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.”
-Edgar Allan Poe

“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.”
-T. E. Lawrence

“Sleep is the best meditation.”
-Dalai Lama

“A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
-Oscar Wilde

“Dreams are today’s answers to tomorrow’s questions.”
-Edgar Cayce

“Why does the eye see a thing more clearly in dreams than the imagination when awake?”
-Leonardo da Vinci

“Dreams have only one owner at a time. That’s why dreamers are lonely.”
-Erma Bombeck

“The interpretation of dreams is the royal road to a knowledge of the unconscious activities of the mind.”
-Sigmund Freud

“Only in our dreams are we free. The rest of the time we need wages.”
-Terry Pratchett
