Peter James O’Toole was one of those actors.

Sadly, Peter O’Toole passed away on December 14, 2013. He started his film career in 1959, and some of the most famous roles he starred in were Lawrence of Arabia, The Stunt Man, Man of La Mancha, Broadway shows, and much more. His performance in Lawrence of Arabia ranked the highest out of many lists of the 100 Greatest Performances of all Time, as recently as 2006.

So in remembrance of a great actor that brought entertainment and touched millions, we wanted to share with you some of his most memorable quotes.

After realizing the fame he earned from the film Lawrence of Arabia: “I woke up one morning to find I was famous. Bought a white Rolls-Royce and drove down Sunset Boulevard wearing dark specs and a white suit, waving like the Queen Mum. Nobody took any f—ing notice, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.”

O’Toole was known as quite a partier. Here’s Peter on alcohol: “I did quite enjoy the days when one went for a beer at one’s local in Paris and woke up in Corsica.”

On his roots: “I’m not working-class. I come from the criminal classes.”

On acting: “Acting is just being a man. Being human. Not forcing it. Some make it their entire life. Big mistake. Laurence Olivier fell into that category. He was a tiny, strange, vain f—er.”

As you can see O’Toole had a lot to say and wasn’t afraid to say it. If you know of other great quotes, please send them along!
