Just this past weekend, an American hero passed away. Neil Armstrong died of complications from a recent heart surgery he needed to have. Here at NaQ we’ve always been inspired by what this man accomplished. The program to head to the moon is still the most impressive feat that man has ever accomplished.
That celestial being had always been untouchable, permanently out of reach. Until NASA sent Neil Armstrong and others to land there, for all of humanity. It is one of the high points of American and human history and we, like many others, were very sad to hear that Neil had passed away.
In honor of the service he has provided to the U.S. and the world, we leave you with some of the more famous quotes he left us with to remember him by:
“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” This is the quote everyone thinks of when they hear Neil Armstrong’s name. It’s argued that he actually did say “for a man” rather than “for man.”
“Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon. July 1969 AD. We came in peace for all mankind.”
Neil on looking out across the Moon: “It’s a brilliant surface in that sunlight. The horizon seems quite close to you because the curvature is so much more pronounced than here on Earth. It’s an interesting place to be. I recommend it.”
“Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man’s desire to understand.”
Neil Armstrong will be missed. But he will always be remembered. So here’s a big “thank you” to Neil for all that he accomplished in his life. He definitely left his mark in a way that few others can compare. Hopefully the renewed discussion of what he accomplished will inspire another generation to conquer equally unheard of feats.
