It’s graduation season throughout the United States. Thousands of undergrads and graduate students alike have been sitting through speeches from intelligent, wise, and established individuals. The major media picks up on a few of these speeches, but regardless of whether a speech receives media attention, there are gems of information from each one.
However, when it comes to inspiration and how to live your life after graduation has come and gone, there are some quotes with direct and very useful pieces of advice. Mashable took the time to put together a list of a number of these quotes, which every graduate should hear or read.
These phrases come from a number of people: celebrities, comedians, actors and actresses, TV and radio hosts, and more. Have a look for yourself at some of these great quotes; it doesn’t matter if you’re a recent graduate or not. These quotes can still be applicable to everyday life.
Louis C.K. on life: “Life’s too short to be an asshole, as an employer or as an employee.”
Walt Disney on choosing a perspective wisely: “I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter.”
Richard Russo on life advice: “Go to it. Be bold. Be true. Be kind. Rotate your tires. Don’t drink so much. There aren’t going to be enough liver transplants to go around.”
Mark Twain with an honest truth: “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.”
Mindy Kaling on taking control: “Write your own part. It is the only way I’ve gotten anywhere. It is much harder work, but sometimes you have to take destiny into your own hands.”
Those are just a few of the great quotes that provide life advice to recent grads. If you know of some other great quotes from this year’s graduation season, please send them along to add to our collection!
