Well, it’s that time of the year again. One of the best summer holidays and the most patriotic holiday for America takes place this week. July 4th brings with it lots of fun, food, friends, and (arguably) the most important thing: fireworks.
July 4th celebrates the Declaration of Independence, which was presented on July 4, 1776. With that declaration, the US colonies declared their independence from Great Britain and initiated what was to be a lengthy war against the greatest military power on the planet.
Since 1776, much has changed. Even though the US is still a very young country, its history is rich and full. Every July 4th, people celebrate the best that America stands for. People gather for picnics, grilling, sports events, and other outdoor activities to share the holiday with friends and family.
To get you in the spirit of July 4th, we at NaQ wanted to provide some great independence themed quotes! Here they are:
No list would be complete without a quote from America’s first leader, George Washington:
“As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality.”
One of America’s most famous presidents of the 1900s, John Fitzgerald Kennedy: “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty.”
Clarence Darrow on the importance of others’ freedom: “You can protect your liberties in this world only by protecting the other man’s freedom. You can be free only if I am free.”
Lastly, a short quote from Benjamin Franklin: “Where liberty is, there is my country.”
We’re sure these quotes will get you in the mood to celebrate July 4th! So have a good holiday this week, and celebrate your independence!
