Making History at the Olympics, One Medal at a Time

Well, there are only a few more days of the 2012 Summer Olympics left. It has been an amazing Olympics so far, with surprises, upsets, unforgettable moments, and more. Some of the events and athletes are completely finished with their Olympics, while other sports are just starting.

One U.S. athlete made to sure to make the most of his time at the Olympics this year. He leaves behind quite a legacy too. This athlete’s name is Michael Phelps.

Michael Phelps had an outstanding run at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His time at the 2012 London Olympics has been just as outstanding. After beating the world-record for the most medals (which was set by a Russian athlete at 18 medals), he has gone on to improve his record. By the end of his time at the 2012 London Olympics, he had racked up a total of 22 medals.

Seeing that NaQ.com is your best source for quotes from anyone, we thought we’d provide a great list of Michael Phelps quotes in honor of his great accomplishments this year — thanks Fitsugar!

“If you want to be the best, you have to do things that other people aren’t willing to do.”

“Being able to do something that’s never been done before, that’s what I’ve always wanted to do…There was nothing that was going to stand in my way of being the first.”

“You can’t put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the further you get.”

We think that last quote pretty much sums up Michael Phelps’ career. He wasn’t content with simply tying or beating the original medal count record. He went and earned as many medals as he could. Unfortunately, Phelps won’t be adding anymore medals to his record. These were his last games. Ever.

Best of luck in the future Michael Phelps — you’ve made your country proud!
