People love to poke fun at the planets, the moon, and the stars when things go awry. Full moons and planets going into retrograde can supposedly create a mess in our lives; but are these just old wives tales? We may be preparing for Mercury to go into retrograde on October 4th, 2014, but what does that even mean? Many astrology websites mention it is a bad time to make decisions, and things may seem chaotic while Mercury is in retrograde.
People have looked to the universe for signs since the beginning of time. In celebration, or maybe fear, of the upcoming Mercury retrograde, here are some quotes about our existence and the influence of the stars and planets in our solar system.
“Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.” – Mark Twain
“If you shoot for the stars and hit the moon, it’s ok. But you’ve got to shoot for something. A lot of people don’t even shoot.” – Confucius
“You’re on Earth. There’s no cure for that.” – Samuel Beckett
“Everything’s got space between it, the planets, trees, your eyes. Your eyes get too close together, it’s a whole different world. You can lose perspective.” – Mos Def
“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.” – Carl Sagan
“You cannot look up at the night sky on the Planet Earth and not wonder what it’s like to be up there amongst the stars. And I always look up at the moon and see it as the single most romantic place within the cosmos.” – Tom Hanks
“In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.” – Carl Jung
