Screen Actors Guild Awards Impresses and Entertains

On Sunday, January 27th, the Screen Actors Guild put on their annual awards show in Los Angeles. The Screen Actors Guild Awards show is an important show for actors and actresses. Awards are selected by members in the Guild, so for many, they find the rewards very meaningful.

All of Hollywood’s biggest stars were in attendance. There was plenty of showing off – fashion and design was put on display, and so were some actors’ big personalities! Hollywood is the source of so many of our favorite quotes that we remember. Movies and television shows are where we find inspiration, entertainment, sadness, understanding, and sometimes even perspective. The words actors use can move us in so many ways.

There were plenty of words said by actors this year at the SAG Awards. We thought we’d take the time to show our appreciation to the actors that inspire and entertain us. Here are some of the best quotes from the evening.

Dick Van Dyke, who was awarded a lifetime achievement award stated, “I’ve been so lucky. Luck has a lot to do with it. Being at the right place at the right time.”

Ben Affleck remarked about how important the SAG Awards are stating, “I’ve been around long enough to deeply appreciate this kind of thing. They don’t come around often. It’s really nice to have awards in the sense that they encourage artists, and I’m really encouraged by this.”

Daniel Day-Lewis, who has been receiving great praise (and awards) for his role portraying President Lincoln had this to say about the role: “It occurred to me – it was an actor that murdered Abraham Lincoln, and therefore, somehow it is only so fitting that every now and then an actor tries to bring him back to life again.”

Tina Fey, after winning her award at the end of 30 Rocks run, pitched the finale with a hilarious quote. She said of the competition for the finale, “Just tape ‘The Big Bang Theory’ for once, for crying out loud!”

Next up on the Hollywood awards circuit is the Directors Guild of America Awards. It won’t be long until the Oscars come around again!
