Well, 2012 has come and gone. The New Year has arrived and people are looking forward to a fresh year to start things off. New Year’s resolutions have been made and hopefully they will be kept!
2012 was a year of great achievements and also great losses. The US saw numerous shootings and tragedies this year, but there were also many accomplishments. The Olympic team performed admirably, NASA successfully landed the Curiosity rover on Mars, the US continued to slowly improve its economy, and much more occurred during 2012.
Like any year, you could write a book about the things that were said in our politics, daily lives, pop culture, and media. We thought we’d put together a few of the top quotes from all areas of our culture from 2012. Without further adieu, here they are!
“This all dates back to when we were growing up together in Kenya.” – President Obama to Jay Leno responding to comments Donald Trump made about his legitimacy as a US-born citizen.
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what … who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims. … These are people who pay no income tax. … and so my job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” – Mitt Romney. This famed quote might have cost Romney the election in 2012.
“I played records, the kids danced, and America watched.” – the Late Dick Clark who passed away in April of this year.
“I have a job to do. … If you think right now I give a damn about presidential politics, then you don’t know me.” – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie when asked a politically charged question during the Hurricane Sandy Disaster.
And a comical quote to round it off:
“I noticed recently you can tell a lot about somebody by their email address. Like if you see ‘dragonhunter1965,’ that’s a 40-something lonely dude. And then you see ‘sexyladyxxx’ — that’s the same guy.” – Dan Cummins
Here’s to a great 2013 and new opportunities ahead!
